The daily operations of staff and outreach is graciously paid from a private donation to further the efforts of the foundation. This grant enables 100% of your donations to fund programs to educate and inform the public on how to save a life!
An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a device that gives an electric shock to the heart. Defibrillation is an essential step in the Chain of Survival and AEDs are the only device that can be used to restart the heart of someone suffering a cardiac arrest. If available, AEDs may be used by members of the public at the scene of a cardiac arrest.
Communities that have increased out-of-hospital survival rates have done so in part through public awareness campaigns, widespread training in CPR and AED use, as well as the placement of AEDs in public locations. Leading the Nation in 2016 is Seattle, King County, Washington whose out-of-hospital cardiac arrest survival rate is 56% (the average survival rate for the remainder of the U.S. - if CPR is not administered in the first four to six minutes - is less than 10%). Our Foundation intends to achieve similar success by offering FREE community-based hands-only CPR training.
The Gwyneth’s Gift Foundation was formed in loving memory and honor of Gwyneth Griffin who is a testament to us all on how to live freely with undeniable optimism and compassion toward others. The Gwyneth’s Gift Foundation seeks applicants for its scholarship program from qualified Mountain View High School seniors for the 2017-2018 school year.
Gwyneth’s Gift Foundation has implemented an Awareness Program using social media (e.g., gwynethsgift.org, Facebook), Foundation-created materials, training, advocacy events, and public speaking engagements. Additionally, we partner with civic groups, local EMS, grassroots organizations, and private business to promote the importance of Hands-Only CPR and a bystander’s ability to save a life. In the future, we hope to offer recognition awards for local businesses with CPR trained staff and AEDs on site.
